Why can't I use a DVD-RW ?
5 Answers
Hi, Have been recording to DVD+RW disks in both my DVD recorders and have no probs except they won't play in one of my other half's DVD players - they have been finalised. They will play in his newer DVD player and PC.
I bought a DVD-RW disk in Switzerland last year and, thinking a -RW might play in my other half's player, tried to record to it - the spec for my Panasonic recorder definately states it'll take +RW and -RW. Neither of my recorders will recognise it, nor the DVD/CD writer on my PC (latter thinks it's a CD tho I can't actually do anything with it).
Could it be cos it's from Switzerland (?) or a duff disk ? OR - I noticed the certified speed says 1-2x, is that just too slow ?
Cheers

Ethel, you could have a point with his player not being able to view RW as it is a few years old (an Acoustic Solutions), tho his is region free while my 'funky' Pansonic isn't - go figure !!
Wideboy, I usually record to HD too but then he says a program he's recorded on VHS (doesn't have a DVD recorder, and won't get one - technophobe !) has been wiped so if I've got it I transfer it to DVD for him, hence using RW. Waste of a DVD otherwise ! And I don't use my VHS recorder any more !! *lol*
