I was thinking of using one of my new Outlook.com addys to send out various newsletters.

I want to send from a list/group of 270 names and send as Bcc.

As far as I can see its still not possible to add a complete list of contacts like this without selecting each name individually, or have I missed a trick here ?

Create a group, add the contacts to the group and then address the mail to the group.

However... no free email service that I know of will let you send a single mail to that many people at once. most are limited to 20 or so.

But you cant add a group of recipients en masse, if its possible I cant find a way of doing it.

Gmail will let you send out hundreds, I use it regularly for this purpose
Like you baz I am having the same problem but I think I have sussed a way round it. Make your gmail acc. able to receive mail from your outlook acc. Then in gmail select your message to forward & click to send from outlook ( @ top of page ). Your messages will then be sent from your outlook acc. ( hope that all makes sense to you)

your method should work but I have found a way round it by using my email client Outlook which can send via outlook.com but that seems to defeat the object of using outlook.com.

But using Outlook to send via outlook.com means I can also do mail merges from Word with attachments

But this only works if i'm at home using my PC, suppose I could set up Outlook on a laptop for when I'm not at home.

Seems like a lot of faffing around though for what should be a couple of clicks exercise from within a browser based web mail

Couldn't agree more

Gmail does, or did, although there is a limit of 500 emails per day. They lock you out after that, for obvious reasons.

Sorry I'm unable to help Baz. Have you considered a dedicated newsletter service like http://mailchimp.com ? They let you send up to 12,000 emails a month for free.

I have no problems sending out the newsletters using my current methods and services, I just thought I might try using the "new" outlook service.

Seems like they have a long way to go to be of any use for anything more than a few messages a day casual use

Surprised at that TBH... I'm fairly sure hotmail/outlook limits you to 100 addresses for one mail.

Luckily for them, this is the majority of the market.

I was a bit surprised too, when I hit the limit.

This is from 2 years ago roughly, so may be out of date.
