Can't send text on new phone

I have just bought a panasonic dect KX-GT8522E.
I have fully charged, registered and received the set-up text from BT, biut I cannot send a text message

Ring Customer services free on your mobile to your supplier ( BT? ) and ask them to help you, as could be a network problem....if not, go back to the shop you purchased it from OR ring them in the morning and ask them to help you, carless......

Have you set the service center number in the phone?

This is a landline phone methyl - chuck may have the answer.

I can't send texts on my landline phone either.

I use a mobile for texts.
