I think I'm missing something basic...
I have put a heap of photos in a folder (windows 7) and want to re-arrange these (within the folder), with a view to making a slide show in "historic" order, and then add music.
I am sure you used to be able to left click on a photo and drag to where you want the photo to be placed (usually there was a flashing line cursor to indicate where you were dropping the photo)
Am I thinking of re-arranging powerpoint pages instead?
Can anyone help please?

You are quite correct, in XP (not sure about Vista) you used to be able to drag and drop pictures in the my pictures folder into any order you want (regardless of the name of the picture)

This was removed from windows7 for some reason. Now the pictures will only show in alphabetical order.

Yes uncle al I think you are. If the photos are numbered windows will just put them back in numerical order.

Thanks to all
I wonder if I could delete the numbers on the photos?

Of course you can; you can rename the pictures to whatever you want. So, for example "001 ThisPicture", "002 ThatPicture", and that's the order in which they will appear (if sorted by name).
