I am thinking of buying a DVD camcorder. Can the DVD discs be ersased and reused like normal tape ones?

If you use DVD�RW discs or DVD RAM discs (unlikely) then yes, you can erase (reformat) them and use them again. If you use DVD�R discs, then you can't as they are write once only.
