I-Pads

I wish to buy I-Pads costing between £300-£500 for my 2 sons and daughter, all over 30 and computer literate.
Would you please let me have your recommendations?
What model do you own and what do you find it most useful for, please?

Do you mean 3 'iPads' costing 300-500 each or that amount in total?

Also, when you say iPad do you really mean iPad or are you using that as a generic term for a tablet pc?

I have an iPad 2, wouldn't be without it now. In fact, considering buyong another on because Mrs BT uses it as much as I do.

Can't comment on Samsung tablet etc., but my cousin has one and swears by it.

Go in to PC World or John Lewis, try both and pick their brains, then make your mind up.

You won't be disappointed.

If your buying an Apple iPad because they are fashionable and that is specifically what they want, then you have no choice. As I said in another post about i Pads I think they are expensive and for the money there are far better products out there with more connectivity etc but unfortunately as I said they have become the thing to be seen with. Also for the money you can buy some really good "netbooks", not as portable but infinitely more flexible, I work in an industry where we all have Laptops, Netbooks and very very few have i pads infact some guys have both a netbook and an i pad which to me is nonsense.

I used my ipad 2 for all of 3 weeks and my ipad 3 for all of 6 months.. I got a blackberry playbook which is much better for my needs

Bl***y heck someone has agreed with me!! Thought all the i Pad fan club would pounce on me. I just hate seeing people waste money buying something cause it's fashionable, yes i Pads have their uses I can't disagree with that but forking out nearly £500 for a top of the line one is bonkers, my net book cost £400 and the only fault is battery life, I did look at a new model in Curries that has 14 hours battery life and an Asus that has days of battery life plus you have all the functionality you could ever need, USB, SD slot, Wi Fi, MS office, HDMI and even bluetooth. See if an i pad has al that!

My mum bought my husband and I an iPad... All we do is play games on it... Not much else. Would have preferred the new Windows tablet.... I might sell the iPad and buy something else.

My mate bought an i Pad, "this is the only computer I need it does everything", he told me. Paid £450 for it in Curries. So I asked when you take a pic with your digital camera do you just take the SD card and plug it in, er No, connect with Blue tooth then to your phone, er No, Ok so your away at your caravan and you con't get Wi Fi how about buying a dongle to plug in, er No no USB. Plug the sim into the i pad then, er that was extra and I didn't think it was worth it. OK so what do you use it for? Well skype is good and the kids like playing games on it and the wife reads books on it. Enough said!

Samsung make excellent tablets and are cheaper than iPads, but just as good.

Some people think the only company making tablets is Apple.

With Apple its their way or the highway, they tell you what and how you are going to do things

with android, windows etc you do it your way how you want.

Apple look good......Others look..... good.

Apple connectivity is garbage...Samsung, windows etc USB, SD, miniSd, wifi etc etc superb

love my ipad mini. can connect to free wifi or use data purchase to connect anywhere, camera(any) plugs straight in to download pictures via adaptor cableor you can get an sd card reader plug in.
I went for the biggest memory because i like to read on it so over your budget. I chose the mini over the standard because i can tae it out with me more.

I've got an IPad 3 with wifi and 4g, although it only uses 3G just now. Bought my husband a 1st generation IPad and he loves it. We use ours for surfing Internet, watching films and catch-up tv, emailing, everything really. Wouldn't be without it. Tried a tablet but couldn't get on with it very well.
