Have you recently downloaded Windows Service Pack 2? When I did this it conflicted with my BT Broadband and my connection kept hanging up. BT Broadband help line was rubbish and just said that this was a known problem. I uninstalled SP2, then reinstalled it, and haven't had any problems since then.

I had this annoying problem for months. I'm with ntl and was using USB to connect. I changed to ethernet (much more reliable) and now it's trouble-free.
