Is the network card that you have installed a wireless one?
Are you connected to broadband via cable or adsl?
Have you configured the router yet?
To configure a router, you need to first connect to it physically, i.e with a rj45 cable via a standard network card, not a wireless one.
It is advisable to test the router is working correctly by connecting to it physically before trying a wireless connection.
Let us know how you get on.
You need to go back a step.
Uninstall the wireless card, and the other network card, and just install the network card with the rj45 socket.
You need to get this working first.
Are you sure that you have got a cable router and not an ADSL router?
A cable router will only have rj45 ports on the back.
The installation sequence is as follows :
turn off the PC, router and cable modem.
Connect the cable modem to the specified port on the back of the router, connect the network card in the PC to one of the other rj45 ports on the back of the router.
Power on the cable modem, wait for about 2/3 minutes then power on the router, wait another 2/3 minutes or until the lights have stopped flashing, you should see the connection led is on permanently, then power on the PC.
On the PC, goto start, control panel, network connections. Right mouse click on the local area connection and select properties, tick the box marked "show icon in notification area when connected".
You should then see an icon like two computers stuck together near the clock.
Next click start, then run and type cmd, then ok.
In the window, type ipconfig /all, and press enter, you should see the ip configuration for you Lan card.
If the above works, open internet explorer, click tools, internet options, connections, select never dial a connection, click on Lan settings and select automatically detect settings, close internet explorer and restart. If you successfully get a web page, then all is working ok.
