Technological Help Needed Please

I have been having problems with my Wi-Fi in my house and have yet to find a solution - hopefully somebody can help me.

My PC is attached to a cable modem. I attached a router to the modem with no problem. However the Wi-Fi signal was only working some of the time when I used it in my bedroom.

I have now decided to get the power plug thingies but need help to pick one that will work for me.

I know that I plug a plug into the modem and then into a socket. Another socket is placed elsewhere (in my case my bedroom) – does the ‘machine’ that I am using have to be plugged into the electricity or does the plug emit a signal that can be picked up.

What make, model etc would you advise me to purchase?

I am pretty sure that the 'machine' won't need to be plugged in- the signal is transmitted through the wires from one socket to another and if your machine is nearby it should pick up the signal.
DO read the link though as rojash knows more about these things

Thanks to both of you (and Rojash - although he is currently inactive). I bought one of those things and it should arrive tomorrow. It is nothing like the one that I would have purchased had I been left to pick one myself - which would have probably been the wrong one.

It should arrive tomorrow and then the fun of getting it up and running begins.

ADSL plugs should come free with modem and need to be plugged into every phone connection.
