After attempting to download something (all legal) my laptop started playing up. Telling me to add Adobe Flash when it is already installed and not highlighting items on desktop by having to go to 'start then scroll up to whatever' before it would open or annoyingly showing 'no DSL connection when there was one but allowing emails to download.
It won't allow restore to previous date either.
Any ideas...or ...how do I put back to factory settings. I don't appear to have instructions even when I ask 'help'?
Any help appreciated.

Going back to Factory settings is very drastic and time consuming. All programmes will have to be re-installed and Windows up-dates (from the date of purchase of laptop) will possible require a good few hours to re-load and you'll loose all your files; unless you back-up them for re-loading.

You may have caught a 'nasty'. Do you have an Anti Virus programme to check if perhaps there is now a bug in your lappy.? Even downloading Legal material can cause problems if the site is a bit dodgy. One has to be be so very careful.

Thanks for your help, I'll check it out.
Try booting into Safe Mode (which is usually done by pressing F8 during the start-up process, although some laptops may be different) and then running System Restore from there.
