Can anyone recommend a decent tablet for my elderly mum? She just wants to browse a few online shops and send and receive emails. I think an ipad might be a bit complicated.
many thanks, x

Kindle fire..
Kindle fire, love mine. She can also use to read.
Love my Nexus 7. Superb and very easy to use.
Love my iPad
Kobo Arc, 16gb 129.99, send and recieve emails, watch tv on demand, read ebooks or listen to audio books, skype if you have to. built in front camera, twin speakers, earphone hack, wi-fi, android with google play. 7" screen, portrait or horizontal. you can buy books on any website not just amazon, no need for a credit card to buy books as you can buy pre-paid gift cards to redeem against ebook, audio books or newspaper/magazine suscriptions, charges direct from the mains.
I dont think that ipads are complicated but they are expensive. my deeply deeply non techy sister has taken to the ipad as easily as anything. You can buy books in many if not all formats as you can have both kindle and ibooks on there.
Believe it or not just today am only after teaching my 70 year old friend all about her Ipad - son bought it for her for xmas and never explained much to her - now she has google, youtube facebook - lots of icons - she does enjoy crosswords - she said she just listened to one singer for 6 months not knowing she has access to world wide web. Pretty much I am exhausted with her as she is a very excitable woman - I have taught her for about 3 hours and I think she knows enough now to enjoy the Ipad. Having said that did think the Ipad by Apple was very heavy to hold - crisgal - thinking of your elderly mum holding it - she could always put it on a cushion tho.
I am in the iPad camp my 70's mum took to hers really easily, trouble is she has now discovered E*ay!!! and the postman has done his back in!
I asked my husband to bring my tablet upstairs for me, and he arrived with Ibuprofen!
james you really made me laugh - first time in ages. Remember my mother when I was young telling me to get me the calendar - as she was peeling potatoes - I climbed onto steps reached for the calendar and it was the collander she was looking for.
am still laughing James that is typical of oul lads - they haven't a baldy
dj hawkes - crisgal is looking for a wee simple thing for her mother not all that techie stuff.
