How do I restore the bar at the bottom of my screen.? The IE start button is now at the top and it has pushed the rest of the screen to one side. Now I'm unable to access my documents etc from the start screen.

If you click on the bar and keep the cursor held down you should be able to drag the bar to where you want it.
If that works right click on the bar and select the 'lock tool bar' option to prevent it being moved again

Thanks factor I'm having a bad day. The bar just widens to overtake my screen from the left if I drag it, It is usually across the bottom of my screen.
If I understand your last post, it looks like you're still having problems.
I'm assuming that your task bar is down the right hand side of your screen.
Do as ff has explained, but make sure you click on the task bar near the bottom - if you try near the top, it prob won't work.
Click on the bar near the bottom and keep it held in whilst you drag it to the bottom and then remember to lock it, to prevent it from happening again :)
Make sure you do as suggested by Gizmonster.. ...Click and hold near what would have been the original bottom edge of the bar. Obviously you are clicking the original bar's 'top edge' and getting a double sided arrow which allows you to alter the width.

The bar is now up from top to bottom on the left side of my screen, it is usually runs along the bottom edge of the screen.
My launch/start button is usually at the bottom left it is now top left. If I drag the bar it drags the whole bar across the screen almost losing the page. At the moment the 'latest posts' is partly hidden because of the left sided bar is pushing it off screen. Don't know what has happened. i'm thinking I will have to run a security scan there is a lot of 'busy buzzing' activity going on. I did access my documents earlier but the screen problem hasn't gone away. Thanks for your advice, any other suggestions?

I have managed to get the sidebar down along the bottom of my screen (don't ask how). Now the items ie. date time, synaptics, java, power indicator etc logos are stacked making the bar wider, instead of being in a line along the bottom. Also the screen items seem to be smaller.
Try holding your cursor on the top line of the block, when the two arrows appear drag it down.
ayg, I am able to visualise the Bar on the left hand side of the screen and feel I know what is giving you difficulty in re-positioning it down to the bottom. You are opening it out in width and it is not being held for re-positioning. Please therefore, now try and follow very carefully my instructions.

Click near the centre and to the very left hand side of the bar. Then slide the mouse pointer down the side of your screen to the bottom left hand corner (where your start button was originally) and, keeping your finger held tightly on the mouse, slide the pointer across the bottom of your screen from left to right. Release the mouse the moment you see the bar shoot across the bottom of your screen.

If you will kindly follow my instructions and then post again to let me know what happens. It could be that it will be necessary to adjust the width of the bar after it is re-positioned. If that is the case, I will advise you further on what do do next.

Alston thank you very much, I have the bar down now at the bottom of my screen, although it is still quite wide because there are six icons stacked on the right of the bar instead of being in a line.
I took a long time typing my instructions because I was trying out every move I was suggesting.

The main thing is you have the bar back where you want it and it is now only a matter of your adjusting it in width. How have you got on with what Yorky Lass has advised you correctly to do.

Al.
I must practice more with my typing...I need to speed up.

ayg...you should find that if you run the mouse pointer along the top edge of the bar, near the centre, a double headed arrow will appear. Click onto it and, keeping your finger held tightly on the button, drag the edge of the bar downwards. You should then end-up with every thing back to what you require.

Thank you Alston and Yorkie Lass I'm still trying to get the bar smaller, I'll keep trying. I'm a bit of a dumbcluck where technology is concerned. Thanks for your help.
Keep trying and if you require any further help you know where to find all of us.

Nope not worked yet. Looked at the Help page which suggested unlocking the tool bar before trying that, did that but no luck. The arrows work to make the page smaller upwards but not to drag the bar downwards. The system tray is still stacked.
Do you get the double headed arrow on the top edge of the task bar when you run the mouse pointer along it.?. If so I find it rather strange that you are unable to click onto it and drag it downwards to make the bar narrower.

You mustn't let this one beat you.

I am not too sure of what you mean when you say that.."The arrows work to make the page smaller upwards but not to drag the bar downwards".

Do you get the double headed arrow when you pass the mouse pointer along the edge of the bar?. If so it is strange that you are unable to click onto and then drag it downwards to decrease the width of the bar.

You mustn't give-up on this one.

Al.
Oops. Strange things are now happening to my postings.

My comments at 19.13 appeared to have disappeared, so I posted again at 19.59 and lo and behold both entries are printed at the same time in AB.

Al, sorry, I've been off-line for a few days. The problem is still here the system tray is stacked up on the left of my screen it used to be in line at the bottom of my screen. I can't drag the tool bar down. I can push up the page with the arrows but cannot decrease the width of the toolbar. You are very patient Alston, thanks for helping.
Good evening ayg......I am only too pleased at trying to help you and have been doing all sorts on my comp to replicate what I think could be causing your problem.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding exactly how your screen looks.Accordingly I would like you to tell me the position of the clock. Is it on the lower left or on the bottom right of the screen. Also when you say that you can 'push up' the page with the arrows.....What page do you mean. Please tell me if the start/closing down button is at the bottom or top of the screen.

Hi Al, sorry I haven't been able to get on here much lately. I can move the arrow up and it will reveal the desktop page underneath but I cannot move the wide band down to reduce the size. The clock on my screen is at the bottom right hand side of the screen (as usual) the day underneath that and the date underneath that whereas it was all in one row before. Next to that on the bottom left I also have two rows of three icons in each row(power, volume, hub, then icons java, pc status synaptics) The start/launch buttons are at the bottom left of my screen. I think I must have clicked on something when I first logged on when this happened. I'm living with it now.
