Have you tried licking your thumb before pressing the key?
have you tried a reset?
You're lucky, my three-year-old Kindle has given up page-turning completely - stuck on the same page for eternity.

It seems that the early models were unreliable so that Amazon could then offer you a new model at a "discount".
Is this a touch, or the type with buttons both left and right?
If the latter does it do the same with both buttons (ie the left and right "next page" buttons)?
If it does the same with both buttons, than it's not a mechanical problem, and it might be solved by shutting the Kindle down completely (by sliding the switch to the right and holding it there 'till it turns off), and restarting it.
