E Cheque And Paypal

Last week somebody bought a camera from me on ebay . the person paid via e cheque but I didn't want that so I asked him to pay via paypal . He did this once I cancelled the e cheque.

The confusing part is that on my PayPal summary there are 2 payments from this guy......one from the e cheque and then one via normal paypal . I definitely cancelled the e cheque payment. Plus there is only the amount of the camera in my account and not double the amount. I obviously should have the one payment.

Today I receive an email from PayPal saying the e cheque payment has cleared and funds should be in my paypal account. There shouldn't be any funds ( which there aren't )as the payment was cancelled.

Why did I receive this email saying its cleared?

I don't want this guy coming back saying two lots of payment have gone out and he wants me to reimburse, as I've only received the one payment.

Is this normal with e cheques?

Thanks

I've had e-cheques as payment before, they're no hassle they just take a bit longer to clear.
If you haven't received two payments then you'll be fine, but be sure to check your bank as well as paypal, as they may have paid the e-cheque payment directly into your account.
