this may be a no-brainer to some...but I have no brain!
I've written a few pages in HTML using notepad in Windows, and now I need to upload it to the web.Can someone tell the best (ie free) way to do this from scratch? remember, I'm an idiot!
(ps I don't have frontpage)

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If you have authored the page, all you need to do is upload it. There are 2 ways to do this. Some web space providers - such as the free Geocities (www.geocities.com) supply all you need on their site. You just click on the upload icon on their site, use browse files to find the files on your disc, click on them and they will be uploaded.
If your web space provider doesn't offer this - then you will need a file transfer program. They may suggest one and let you down load it from their site - check their help information, or you may have one already on a cover disc, or you can google for one. There are several free ones available.
I too use notepad for my websites and I use WS-FTP to upload. If you go to www.tucows.com and search for FTP then you'll find many programs that will do the uploads and you can read the reviews and select which one to download. Some are free, some are sharware. (WS-FTP now seems to be free trial for 30 days only)
