Yesterday I saw a spider crawling out of my toaster and was so horrified I threw it in the bin ( the toaster and he spider )
This made me think that this could be happening all the time. I never think of covering it when I go on holiday.
Why don't toasters have lids? I am sure they would look better too.

Spiders are ok, not like folloffing flies, who spend half their life on turds.
I like spiders, in my previous house I had a beauty and each morning and evening he would come out of his space between the bricks and wave. I called him Cedric and when I moved I would have taken him with me...if I could have found him. The thought that he could have been hurt/killed was not good.

Yeauch!
Don't forget we don't choose to hate spiders, I wish I did like them. They're the top phobia so must be something pretty awful about them. Yuk.
I don't mind spiders, we had one who lived underneath the bath, every so often it would come out and just sit there. Don't know if I've hoovered it up now not seen it for ages.
When I worked in engineering I wore toetecs. I took them off after a shift and found a massive spider stuck to my sock. I tried to revive it but the poor mite was dead. Probably from being squashed or the smell of my feet. I don't mind spiders, they eat the flies which I hate.
I have at least one biggish spider living in the wing mirror of my car, it (or one that looks the same) has been there at least eight weeks or so. The kids call it Webby.
A toaster spider! I want one.
sherrard - me too - last year. It travelled about 3000 miles. Spun a web, and as I motored along, so flies got caught. When the car went for MOT, I put it in a jar, then restored it later to its home in the nearside mirror. BIG garden spider, it was.
I keep my toaster in a cupboard..

Aww. You are making me feel cruel now. I hope that this does not keep me awake tonight.
Toasters?

Don't you all do like me, and make your toast on a fork, in front of a roaring log fire?

Stop it joggerjayne....,you are making me think of 60 yrs ago and the wonderful toast which was cooked on a long fork in front of the kitchen range fire. Then the toast was 'buttered' with good healthy pork fat or beef dripping.

Yummers!

Can't believe this. Just watching QI on Dave and the subject is insects. Stephen Fry offered
The panel a sweet with a spider in the centre ,no one would try it so he did and now he is in a terrible state because he has got a leg stuck in his teeth and can't dislodge it. Yuk.
Have the bin men been? I would like a better toaster than the tempremental one I have.
You were lucky! At an apartment in Portugal I had a huge cockroach crawl out of the toaster.
I thought it was a chocolate ant he had. Others tried the scorpion in peanut brittle.
leahbee.....I hope you are 'pulling our legs' when you say that you binned your toaster because you saw a spider emerging from it. If you are serious I am wondering what do you do if you see a small caterpillar on a lettuce or a fly landing on a work surface in your kitchen.

I am yet to see positive evidence that, even the most deadly of spiders, has been responsible for the death of a human being. Mosquitoes are far more dangerous, and I dare say most of us have been bitten by one and are still here to tell the tale.

Use a grill? I once found a mummified mouse behind the grill pan in my mum's cooker! It must have been hiding there, and been squished when the grill pan was pushed in. Been there for months, probably. (But I didn't throw her cooker out!).
