I have purchased a secondhand laptop an Acer Aspire 7000 running Win 7 using Firefox, the trouble is when I visit a website such as answerbank or ebay and right click to put a shortcut on the desktop it stays there until I boot up again then all the icons change to a world globe picture, all the same,
this never happened when I was using XP and IE so how can I stop this happening?
I anyone can answer this, in laymans terms please as I Am not very computer savvy.

Why do you save them as shortcuts to the desktop? Surely much easier to save them as 'bookmarks'?

Trying to understand your reasoning. You can rename your shortcuts as well.
