I googled and someone said go into Preferences, which are not there!!! Any help would really be appreciated, thank you.

sorry some typos there *can't get Ares to work* and *Uploading*
Far quicker, and with no risk of corrupted files - find the track you want on YouTube.

Cut and post it's URL into here -

http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

When you get the message Download/Save - click Save - and move it to your Music where it will be stored as an MP3, and you can upload it from there.

OK thanks, will try that but seems a bit long winded. Why is wind 8 so very difficult????
Just open windows explorer, click on your music file, connect your mp3 and drag and drop.

Alternatively, open Windows Media Player, connect your mp3 and do it from there.

It should be no different to how you did in Win 7 or XP.

Have done a couple as andy-hughes suggested, but will try the other suggs now, thank you very much.
Obviously others know better than I nettie - but using file-shares like Frostwire can be risky, you can import viruses.

I didn't know they had started up again - ?
