Sometimes when I'm not on the net AOL just decides to connect by itself. It does it 2 or 3 times then stops. This can be a real pain!!! I'm going to drop AOL anyway as they're terrible (what do you mean I can't type parc!), but in the meantime....

In essence some program is trying to make a connection, probably an autoupdate feature which you should be able to turn off from within the program. There is a chance though that there is something malicious going on eg virus/trojan so make sure your antivirus definitions are up to date and do a scan. Good luck with getting rid of AOL. I'm afraid you may find it has done some nasty things to your system and you may have problems getting another connection to work.
