Removing Unauthorised Business Listings From Google

My business closed three years ago when I retired. Every time I google my company, I find the business advertised on websites I have never heard of, some even have my private address and phone number, also with a map of my road and a photo. I am contacting each company to remove these listings but there must be some way of contacting google to stop them 'sellling' my details, it is spreading like a virus. How do I contact google to demand they stop giving my details out, especially my home address? I have never authorised google to do any of this.

I'm not sure it's a Google issue. These sites will take info from other sites. Other search engines would find them too. I still get phone calls now from when I ran a small community club about 10 years ago as my name and number found its way onto all sorts of directories, local authority and other sites

smurf - I await answers with interest. I'm in a similar position in that I closed my practice down five years ago but there are still thousands of sites listing who we are and what we do (I was a surveyor but going round some of the sites I apparently also do fencing jobs, make sweat bands and hats/caps to list just a few!)

I found us on a website in Istanbul, unfortunately I cant read which link to follow, to send them an email!

Google is just one of many many search engines that can be used to find information hosted on the internet, they are not the owners of the information and have little ability to police what others decide to host. Unfortunately you would need to get the individual sites themselves to remove the info.

and therefore my address is in the public domain
