didn't take long and I don't know how this happens, someone here will give me the obvious answer I know.....☺

I have received two emails on different days. Both are from Joe Bloggs to John Doe....not their real names obviously....and are the only two names on the emails. They are two men....not companies or businesses.

My name and email address appears nowhere on the emails....one is some photographs of people I don't know...the other looks like a short reply to a request for some information that means nothing to me.....

I am not going to contact either person...but I am curious as to how they came to me...

Thank you....but my puzzle is.....

When I receive an email it reads...From Annie Whoever To Gness Aber

These read.....From Joe Bloggs to John Doe ....my address is nowhere.

So if they have been hacked an email can be sent for example to...John Doe...and arrive in my email box?

I am probably being thick here.....do they have a way of addressing it to John Doe....and it arrives with me?

A tad worrying....☺

It may have been BC (blind copied) to you?
It might be included in a BCC. When that happens you can get the email but your address won't appear anywhere.

Ah....I see...so I have deleted two men I don't know and will now never meet? Sod it....slow there Gness!!!!

See...I said there would be an obvious answer.....☺
All answers are obvious if you know them.
I use windows Live for email. This allows you to right click an email and choose 'properties' - This gives you all sorts of details about the email and who the return to address is ( different to the sender sometimes).
I would expect to see your email address in the properties details somewhere.

wont help if you are not using windows live... sorry
You can be in the BCC list
Yep, bbc copies, gness - whatever you do don't respond, it's definitely hacking or phishing. Just delete.
^ doh, Bcc copies...

Well, thank you all......and today's lesson is:

Give a chap a chance before hitting delete..... :-(
You never know who may be there to try and go on the pull, eh?
Ah, but how did the spammer get the "ABer" bit from, not to mention her AB pseudonym?

@ABEditor, has AB had someone rooting through its databases?

I know, Jim....story of my life though..bit like the get to know new people at a meal I attended in a noisy bowling alley....Dishy guy sat next to me and said ....Are you alone?

I thought he'd said....Are you a panini?....so I answered...No, I'm a baked potato.....

That was another delete button I hit..... :-(

Hi, Hypo...no I made the names up....real emails to me have my name.... I just didn't understand how these didn't...but I do now....☺
does a blind copyee get to see who the original recipient was, then? I didn't know that.
Sorry Gness.....I am Not sure if your problem is with Mails or Males.

Please say if any service is being offered to you so I can Bing (I don't go Googling) for a possible answer.

Hans ☺☺☺
