42" L E D Television, H D

Hi all,
Would welcome any thoughts, experiences, pros/cons of LED TV's as I am giving consideration to buying this:

I would need more than 2 HDMi sockets but apart from that it is good tv.

yes LG and SAMSUNG the world leaders in tv development and reliability as hc4361 says it only two hdmi sockets depend what youve got to plug in

HDMI sockets not too much of a problem, I use one for xBox and currently the other for viewing pics via my iPhone.

I have a Samsung but if I was to buy another one - it would be either a Panasonic or Sony.

I think it's a real bargain and, if I were replacing my TV, it is one which would be top of my list.

It's manufactured by a South Korean company which has been around from I believe about 1958. Consequently the firm has had plenty of time to get matters right and Tesco doesn't import rubbish.

That's a very nice looking TV - have to say I was tempted. Just one problem though.
Why (oh why) have they placed the feet near the edges? It means it wouldn't fit on the TV stand I already have. Everyone else seems to put one wide stand in the middle.
Oh well, I'll keep looking!

I think that is to make the tv less likely to topple forwards if a toddler grabs it.

I suspect hc is correct. I lloked at it in the Tesco store and as explained in gingebee's link LED tv's are thinner, this one looked to be no more than three quarters of an inch!
Thus it probably needs wide-ish feet at the very corner to ensure stability.

anax has made a fair point about the positions of the feet. However, if you are not bothered about the feet positions, I would suggest that you should Not be concerned that the TV only has two HDMI sockets; because it is cheap enough to increase them with a splitter. :

Understood about TVs being thinner. But are they also making toddlers taller these days?

Ideally the centre of the tv should be at your eye level when seated. My tv is very much at toddler height, which is why I have these:

Well, I've bought it and have to say it's the mutts nuts!
Highly recommended but for those interested, don't hang around, they're going like hot cakes and the offer ends at the end of this month.

Needing more than 2 HDMI sockets can be solved with a multi splitter hub, cheap to buy from Maplin etc.
