Ipad Problem

After charging my Ipad I am unable to access anything. I get the time and at the bottom it says slide to open but it won't slide. When I close it down with the cover then open it again I get to enter my pass code which doesn't work and almost immediately switches off entirely. I do hope someone will be able to help. hollytree

Press and hold the power button and the home button together until the screen goes off, continue to hold for 10 seconds and release, the Apple logo should then appear and the device reboot, you can then try again once it is back up.
