then just highlight all the pictures and either drag them where you want them on your computer or copy and paste them (contol c, control v)
sorry, didn't see your last post, just look in each folder till you find your photos, they should be there somewhere.
Question Author
All the photos are there, that is not the problem
as jno says, just copy and paste the contents of DCIM into your Pictures folder.
then can't you copy and paste them to the place on your computer where you want them?
Question Author
I normally have them all in pictures, they are all in pictures already. As I said that is not the problem
Question Author
No PICTURES is not showing up as an option to post there
so what's the problem - the three missing ones? They ought to be there somewhere too, perhaps in a different folder (I don't know how Canons do these things)
okay, you know where you want to put them on your computer? In My Pictures or something?

Highlight the pictures in the DCIM file on your screen. Control+a should highlight them all

Then control+c - this will copy them

Then go to My Pictures, or wherever on your computer you want to put them.

Then control+v will paste the copies in.

The problem is that when I connect and turn on the camera to put my last three photos I have taken on to the computer, it is not showing them up to do so as it used to . All is it saying is that there are 150 or so files to put on there but they are all there already when I go into pictures.
//No PICTURES is not showing up as an option to post there//

Not understood?
so - 150-odd pictures have already been imported from your camera? But three have not? Is that the situation?
So what is the program you are using to import them?
Question Author
No,,,,,,,,,,I do not understand what has happened at all all I know is it was working perfectly until I updated windows and now it is not working as it should and I do not have any one to help me at this end

Be back later it is driving me nuts xxx
Rather than using the installation CD, which is probably out of date go to Canon support and download the latest versions.

http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/products/cameras/Digital_Compact/Powershot_A_series/PowerShot_A810.aspx?type=download&language=EN&;os=Windows%207
Some USB devices require you to first visit the "Safely disconnect hardware" function.

At tge right hand end of your toolbar, click the small triangle and look for the icon that looks like a USB plug. Click on that (right-click?) to view a list of connected devices and click on the entry for the Canon camera.

If it is not listed at all that might be part of the problem. Gently check the plugs at either end of the USB cable but do not apply force in a direction which might lever the rear of the socket out of the circuit board. (hard to word this unambiguously and not knowing the camera or compu's layout).

Safe disconnect if possible but unplug/camera software closed/replug might reinitialise the communication.

Please let us know if the Windows Update occurred *while* the camera USB lead was plugged in and/or the camera s/w was running. Was a reboot required to complete the update, etc.?

Slack alice did that but the problem is ongoing I contacted Canon who just told me to do this as well.
Did you download and install the first of the three choices given in my link?

Question Author
I tried to but it wouldn't complete slackalice
