One usually downloads from the camera to the PC rather than the camera importing files. Shoudl we assume this is the issue ?

I think the answer could be almost anything since we have so little information to go on.

What do you do, what do you expect to happen, what happens instead ?

Do you not need to run a programme on you PC to move the picture files from the camera to the PC or vice versa ?

And what kind of update are we talking about - a Windows Update ("update Tuesday" always seems to be Wednesday for me) or an update to the digicamera software?

Can0n photo shot a810 Normally I just plug the camera in and the pictures I need to import come up on screen with a tick and it says import I press that and they are put on to my camera, very easy, works for me. The computer id t update and I did and all is well. Computer is Dell Inspiron 660 mt

It sounds as if you have some Canon software that normally runs in the background looking for you to plug the camera in. Either that is no longer compatible with the new update, or maybe for some reason the update switched it off.

I don't have such a camera but it may be worth your while reinstalling whatever it was you installed when you first had the camera. Might sort it, you never know.

Connect camera to pc with usb lead and switch camera on. Go to 'My Computer' and your camera should show up as an additional drive. Click on the icon and find a folder normally called DCIM. Open this to find your photo's.

Copy and paste from there to your pc.

I assume your using a Canon software program to import photo's and suspect an update has broken it. Easy to fix just re-install it.

I feel sure that I am misunderstanding that you are trying to import pictures into your Camera.

Surely you are endeavouring to transfer images from Camera to Computer.
If so, I would have thought that you could remove the memory card from your Camera and insert it direct into your Computer's card slot.No need to connect the actual Camera to your Computer.

My photos are still showing up but the three new ones I have taken I can not transfer to the computer, I have ran the installation CD again, but it is coming up as we are still installing the last 170 and I cant seem to go any further ?

Can you not see the camera "drive" in Windows Explorer, and copy & paste from there to your preferred location on your C: drive ?

I take it you can see the photo ok on the camera, it isn't corrupt and thus unable to be seen by the PC ?

and have you clicked on the 'removable storage' and looked for a folder called DCIM?
