I currently use the internet over an hour a night on a dial-up.  Recently, my dad's started doing the same, so our phone bill is going through the roof!  I think broadband will be cheaper, and of course better.  Can anyone recommend a cheap package, just for basic surfing needs and the occasional mp3 download?  Thanks.

P.S.  If this site closed that would solve half the problem!
I go with cooky on this one, but all depends which area you live, I use Telewest, and I think price and service wise its excellent.

I'm on BT broadband at around 20 a month. its a 2 mb connection so its rediculously fast.

Wireless internet connection is the way forward.

18 a month with wanadoo and they also do free evening calls i believe - check their site for details
My friend swears by demon internet and has just had a free upgrade to 2Mb. I use V21.
NB. V21 are now offering 2Mb for 9.98 per month (no joke) but there is a 2Gb cap (which I don't want but it might suit light use).
I pay Wanadoo Heavy user price of 27.99 a month....I'm connected 24/7 and worth every penny IMO. super fast speed and 30Gig Data usage per month.

Until I went on broadband, I was with NTL world & paid 15 a month for 24/7 dialup, which included 15 worth of phone calls! In effect, free internet connection. (I don't know what their current system is).

We also have a home network, so several computers can be used at once on one phone line.
