I bought a samsung Sh853M with a matching 2nd hand tv LE37R87BDX. We have to use freesat from sky and I've been told i cant use this kit to record thru sky, it needs to come through an ariel. Is that correct?

If your freesat has scart output, there is a scart socket on the recorder.

If you want to record freeview, then you will need an aerial.
