^^^Well it wasn't me, Hc4361! (I know relatively little about mobile phone networks).

GiffGaff is actually O2. (It's owned by them and uses their transmittters). It seems to be 'a Marmite thing' among users, with some loving it and others hating it:

I'm with gif gaff, never had any issues. Because it's run by users, customer service is usually a lot quicker than phoning other mobile providers.

As it is not a contract it is worth trying for a month. It's not like being tied to them for a year or two.
