Hi, I have a Lenovo G50/30 laptop running Windows 8.1 and need to know of the hover feature that opens and closes pages etc can be turned off.
I've looked in mouse setting and there's nothing about it there.
Thanks.

Try Control Panel / Mouse

Set MouseHoverWidth and MouseHoverHeight to 0.

Hi Zacs-Master, neither of those setting show under 'mouse' or 'pointer'.
It's an entry level machine, looks like the option's not available.
I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Cheers.
Hi douglas.....Please give some more information because I am at a loss to understand what exactly you mean by a hover feature that you wish to turn off.

Please forgive my ignorance.....perhaps it is because I Do Not have any experience of Windows 8 or 8.1

Hi Hans, when the cursor rests or hovers over something like an advert on a page and that ad opens without clicking on it.
Is it only Adverts that are causing you problems.?

No Hans, it happens with new window, articles on newspaper sites, on here too if the cursor lands un-noticed on a latest post, for example.

SlackAlice, thanks for that link. I've given it a go but to no avail.

Looks like I'll just have to get used to it and maybe spend a bit more next time I'm buying a computer.

Many thanks to you all for taking the time to reply. :-)
Has the problem been with you from the original purchase of the laptop.? If it has only started recently, it could be that an up-to-date driver is required for the mouse. A further thought is that an item of Malware has entered your Laptop; in which case you will need to flush it out with the free edition of Malwarebytes.
