"Save As" has suddenly disappeared from my File menu in Word 2003 (my PC is running Windows XP).  I have tried reinstalling but that didn't fix it.  Has anye any ideas?

I think it's there depending on what file your editing, if it's a new file it wont be there as save will force you to give it a name. But if you are editing a current file it will be there.

No, it isn't there on existing documents, although it was until last night.

I've now realised that it's still there for my spreadsheets and emails and also on web pages.  It seems to be just .doc files

Is the "Save As" option just hidden ? Try clicking on the two downward pointing chevrons at the bottom of the box that opens when you click on "File" - a longshot but worth a go .

Thanks Dsg but I'd thought of that and tried it.

I agree with you that it's hidden itself somewhere, if I can only find it.  I have got "Save as Web Page.." in its place and wonder where that came from.

(PS Thanks, too, for your suggestion WoWo)

Perhaps it's just "fallen off" the File menu. If you right-click on any toolbar and choose Customize at the bottom. On the Commands tab, you can File in the Categories list on the left, then browse through all the things that might live on the File menu in the Commands bit on the right. If you find Save As in there, you can just drag it back to the File menu and drop it in the right place.
