I posted this over in chatterbank, but it has been suggested that I ask you brainiacs over here.

Please have a look at my question and let me know if there is any logical technical explanation for this! THANKS!!!!

Hi Estie - I can see why you would be freaked by such an incident. But please dont be. Sound to me like some sort of virus/spyware has got onto your PC.

First action should be to update your Antivirus software and run the most comprehensive scan possible - deleting anything that it finds and regards as suspicious.

Secondly, install an Anti Spyware application such as this:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?********=321CD7A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en

Or this:

http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

Once you have installed either one of these, run a full and complete scan of everything and again - remove anything that is suspicious.

You might also like to open your control panel and check what applications are installed on the laptop (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs). You or the children may have inadvertently installed something untoward.

Best of luck - and please keep me posted?

Thanks Tritan!

My friend just emailed me a similar suggestion. I am running a virus scan as we speak. I will ran Adaware next.

Will definitely let you know if I find anything!

Your system has been infected by the Ultimation virus. It's described here: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_1285.htm

Fortunately, it's not too serious and most antivirus software should be able to sort it out.
