I know exactly what you are going through, I had the same problem. Like yourself I am not too computer literate, so a lot of it is gobbledegook to me as well, but I found that after a lot of time and loss of hair I finally managed to install NIS 2005. All I can advise you really is that if you get any error messages whilst trying to install your NIS, that you follow all the instructions that Symantec give you and see if it helps! Try:-

I'll bet you're running Windows XP Service Pack 2, because SP2 gave me nothing but trouble after I first installed it. You've got to have patience, keep at it and you'll get there in the end. If I can do it, any-body can, believe me! Good Luck!
