If I were to install WMPv10, could I re-install v9 if I get any problems, because I've heard that v10 can cause some problems.

what sort of problems, i've used version 10 without any, yes you should be able to remove it from add/remove programs.

ver 10 is missing a whole bunch of codecs for various file types. Make sure you download all these from MS site and you should be fine.
