I was very surprised to see the Windows 10 install icon in the taskbar of my Samsung N210 that was running Windows 7 Starter.

Now running Windows 10 Home and has a new lease of life. Even Cortana is working :)

Dig your out of that cupboard, blow the cobwebs off and have a look.

I am really pleased with win 10. I have got a small lenovo that I bought especially to run a windows crafting program on. Its always been a bit slow and while it came with touch screen technology, the stuff it came with was dire on win 8 so I disabled it. Win 10 has sped it up and the touch screen tech seems to be new software and lovely.

That's great, woofgang. I really do think Microsoft have got it right this time.

Just wish I could be confident enough to buy a Windows phone
i've bought two windows phones recently, the lumia 630xl and the 930, 930 is brilliant, user loves it, 630 blew up and melted within 4 days

It's the lack of apps that worries me, mccfluff
I am a Mac fan for everything else, but the craft program I use doesn't play well with Parallels and Parallels gets expensive to upgrade plus you need to purchase windows so i sprung for the Lenovo

I love my Blackberry phone but at 5 years old it's not as sprightly as it was.
i hope you took a moment or two to turn off all the communications options other than fault reporting. I am surprised to see that 10 - 64 bit version only needs a minimum of 2gb ram to work.

I'm on top of it, ukbod, without being paranoid
I'd still swear by xubuntu .... fast as a fast thing that's been greased
I thought xubuntu was a swearword - maybe in swahili

I do have ubuntu on my oldest pc and try different flavours of Linux
ubuntu is one of the many variants of the word 'ubuntu', a bantu word broadly meaning 'humanity.
Different developers characterise their version by playing on the ubuntu root name, so Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu etc

I have fond memories of Red Hat. Very easy to use
aside - hc you have a blackberry? I know my way round my Samsung android no problems but have just been issued with a blackberry as a work phone. Can't find my way round it at all, no manual, tiny keys - it worries me as I'll be expected to be proficient with it. Don't like it so far, tell me things will get better ;-)
Red Hat, Debian - all of their time
The latest iterations are brilliant and have bridged the user gap that made Microsoft an easy winner in the 1990s/noughties.

Prudie, what OS is your Blackberry? If it's running 10 I haven't a scoobie

Question Author
