Thinking Of Moving From Bt To Virgin Or Sky
44 Answers
I need information and advice, please.
I have BT broadband and TV but am fed up with them.
What 'kit' if any would I need to change to Virgin or Sky?
I do not have a satellite disc nor is there cable installed to my house, I only have a phone line.
Would it be easy for me to switch?
Do you have any recommendations?
I will want internet, TV and telephone.
Thanks.

If you are in a Virgin area they will connect the cable to your house, which is pain free, and supply you with a router for your broadband and a Tivo for your tv. I'm happy with them. I get 150 Mbps broadband speed but that is their fastest package and most expensive. There are cheaper options. I like my Tivo box, I can record three channels at a time
I have never used Sky so can't advise about that.

If you have a friend/neighbour with Sky, get them to introduce you to Sky

My question exactly Maydup !
If BT has upgraded your area to receive its Infinity packages, then you be better staying with them. I changed over to Infinity One and now get about 37 mega pixies, which is marvelous.
I have made the following point many times before but if you can't get a direct link with a fibre-optic cable, as Virgin will give you, you are still going to have your internet service via your telephone line, which only BT can provide.
What is wrong with the service you get from BT now ? If BT hasn't upgraded its green cabinets, you won't be able to get high speeds, no matter who you go with, through your telephone line.
