I have been offered a free "upgrade" to W10. Now W8 was the worst Pile of *** ever to get the time of day, I had to clear out my PC and put W7 on it! So what's your advice? Anyone running W10, opinions? advice? thanks.

Put 'Windows 10' in Search Box, and stand well back as you press Search!
It seems to work quite well, certainy quicker than W8.

yes I did that Baldric, just thought I'd get some input from ABers
Have updated both laptop and desktop from W8 in last two months. Am pretty happy. Important to know the Start menu is the monopoly house icon in middle of bottom task bar.
TTT I have been running on W10 from early doors. 7. 8, XP, and all the other systems will become extinct. Remember the Luddites? I would not say it has been hassle free but we need to progress. I am now running on microsofts new edge browser. It has sorted some of the lag and keyboard problems on this site out. (Ed needs to look at bandwidth and compatibility issues )Do not lie by the wayside. I now show off to my son and his mates. That is very satisfying I must admit after being clueless when he was whizzing me out of play.

Ah, ok, I just thought that gave you 400+ ABers inputs
Question Author
mate.. hardly a luddite! I just usually wait a while and let others find and iron out the issues.
Question Author
sorry Balders, I didn't realise you meant the AB search box.
Err I didn't say 'mate' for your usage. Try not to elevate yourself into my son's strata. We have no' issues' or ironing to do. Stay there on W7 and don't answer a civil reply with corrosive self regard.

How much memory has your computer got, TTT?

W10 requires at least 2Gb of memory, which rules out many laptops (and quite a few older desktops). However the technical press seem to be reporting that W10 often runs very slowly with 2Gb, and recommend a minimum of 4Gb.

My machines have either 1Gb or 2Gb, so I'm certainly not rushing to get W10. Further, there have been lots of reports of driver problems with W10 (particularly with audio drivers) and I've got some older devices, such as a film scanner and a graphics tablet, that might not have W10 drivers available. (I'm also currently running lots of older software, such as Photoshop 6 and an old version of Microsoft Publisher, in W7's 'compatibility mode'; I'm not sure whether they'd continue running under W10).

So I'm sticking with the maxim of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Togo it was meant to be a friendly response. Bit OTT there.

Thanks, chris, I have 2gb, so I think I'll leave it.
i downloaded last week..easy to use no probs with external drivers for printers etc.. only problem was it did not like outlook express for mail seems to be competing with windows mail ...having that looked at now...but by and large I like it
I've got it and am very happy with it, it's way more user friendlier than Windows8 which still makes me twitch in frustration.
