Help Get My Desktop Back

My desktop screen (Windows10) has gone all weird.

All my icons have gone.

If I right click, nothing happens.

If I left click, the whole desktop gets covered by all the stupid Apps that used to be in the start menu. Big squares all over the screen.

And the shortcuts that I had pasted on the Desktop ... all gone.

Help!

You have most likely switched on Windows 10 Tablet Mode.

If so, to check and switch it off:-

- Press the combination keys WINDOWS Keyboard Key and at the same time press I to bring up the Settings menu.
- Select 'System'
- Select 'Tablet Mode'
- Click the status button beneath 'Make Windows more touch-friendly' to switch it to the 'Off' state
- Now close the settings window and return to your desktop and hopefully all should be as it was!

I had the same problem. I shut the computer down and started it up again and it was all better. It was due to personalisation or something.

Also wolf, thank you. I think I'd done something more stupid, because restarting the lappy didn't work.
