Windows 10

I am pretty clueless re computers. I think I am on windows 7 or 8 but everyday I am getting a message asking me to update to windows 10.

If I click onto windows 10 what should I expect - can I stay where I am as I am happy where I am or do I need to move on eventually.

Have just got rid of the W10 Update again and this time I have 'hidden' the update so hopefully it won't reappear.

Are you on W7 or W8 now Jenny?

There is a huge difference.

W8 was awful, and you should definitely upgrade.

If you are still on W7 and are happy, then stay with it.

Which ever way you choose Jenny, DO NOT pay for it, i'ts a FREE download, you will be tempted by a few sites to pay, "DON'T"

Yes it is annoyingly intrusive at installation - Yes it takes a bit of time to setup properly - what software works right first time.
If, as they claim, there wont be any more versions of Windows just updates, where does that leave the unsupported people on earlier versions with obsolete, unsafe operating systems that wont run programs they want to use.
I`ve assisted in many successful installs of 10 and not one of those people wants to go back. Many people value the assistance they get here with their computer issues but I think that on this subject the helpers need to give it a real chance.

That cuts both ways; I lost the best backup program I ever had when I upgraded from Vista to W7 and, if I upgrade from W7 to W10 I suuspect I will lose a video processing program Pinnacle Studio V12. Pinnacle Studio is currently V19, which I tried, and loses the single best feature of V12. This feature is unavailable in any other video editing program I have tried, so upgrading to W10 will lose my best video editing suite.

I had older programs that I like - Money 2007 as an example - but with a few minutes on the forum I was able to get it going again. Pinnacle V12 is not that old so i doubt if they would have left it without an update, if necessary, for Win 10

Studio V12 stopped being maintained several years ago. When they sell V19 for £50, why should they bother maintaining earlier versions? If V19 retained the "storyboard" facility I would happily upgrade but Pinnacle have decided to drop it in their wisdom. I cannot find this feature in any other video editing program I've tried.
