Should Laser Printers Smoke/steam?!

I bought a new laser printer and whenever it prints the page out, a small amount of smoke/steam comes out too, which immediately stops once the page is out. I phoned PC World who said to stop using it and that it should not do this. I then swapped it for another identical one, and it does exactly the same! Does anyone else have any experience of a smoking printer and is it safe?!
