Hi help needed please. My computer hard drive died and with it everything on it - including my I-tunes. I have my shuffle and it has a lot of the songs on that I lost however when I put it in my computer with a new hard drive it is not recognized and asks if I want to clear all the songs from it and use songs from my new library. (which I don't want to do.) Any idea how I can get my songs from my shuffle?

Thanks

I can't help you specifically with your problem, but if you go to

www.ilounge.com They have many well tested and free tools for situations like yours. Also a good place to find out other info too.

By the way, don't clear the songs. As an afterthought to your problem. With a normal ipod (i don't know if this is the same with the shuffle), but if you go into

Desktop - My Computer. In my computer, is there an extra drive that is not usually there? If so, it is probably your shuffle. It SHOULD be under Devices with removable storage. Double click on the icon for the shuffle. There should then popup a screen. Click on Tools, go down to folder options and click on th VIEW Tab. Look under advanced settings and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders is selected and click ok.

On the ipod box that you opened from My computer, there should be a faint folder called ipodcontrol, if not, close down all the screens and open them up again from desktop - my computer - ipod drive. If it says ipod control, click on this then click on Music. If this is possible, you can copy the next files F00, F01 etc to your computer and then open the file on your computer and import from itunes.

I hope this works for you - It's devastating to lose your music, please keep me updated with how you get on.

If in any doubt, do nothing and ask me again.
