I always use this mail server. I have tried others but this seems to work as well as any of them.

But how do I change the font when I am writing an email ? I am not sure
what font it is using now, but it could be a lot clearer. I am talking about the font that I see when I am composing an email, not what arrives at the other end.

Any help is appreciated !

(I'll assume that you're using a Windows PC or laptop, rather than something like an Android tablet):

If you're using the Yahoo email website (rather than accessing the account through an email client, such as Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird) I doubt that you can change the font you see on screen. It's the same as typing a post here on AB; you're stuck with whatever the website gives you. Of course you can make everything larger (by pressing Crtl and + together) but it will still be the same font.

However if text isn't looking clear on your computer there are two things you should check:

Firstly, go here and check that you can see all of the numbers, from 0 to 10, on both of the relevant lines: http://reeddesign.co.uk/testcard.htm . (If not, follow the instructions to adjust your monitor).

Then ensure that ClearType is turned on and optimised. (Click 'Start'. Type 'cleartype' in the box. Click on 'Adjust ClearType Text' and follow the instructions).
Mikey at the bottom of the page you are about to type on, will find 'Tt' in the row of icons. If you click on that it will give you a list of different fonts and a choice of sizes.

Tilly....you are a genius !

Happy New Year !
Have a go at using a background too, Mikey. Click on the little purple flower icon.
Happy New Year to you!
I didn't know the font could be altered in Yahoo Mail. I very rarely use Yahoo Mail because pages often freeze. Nevertheless I am always open to being taught something new. Thanks Tilly.

Incidentally Mikey, whatever font you use when sending a Yahoo e/mail, that is the format which arrives at the recipients address. I have just now put it to a test.

Hans.
I always play about with the fonts and the stationery when I'm sending emails to friends and family. I never do anything fancy for formal, business emails though.
