Failed Sms Messages

Why do SMS messages fail? Have just tried to contact someone on EE network but message wasn't sent. The only other time that happened was at midnight on New Year's Eve, which | could understand.

Any number of technical reasons in sending or receiving network. I don't believe delivery is guaranteed. Did it say on the sending mobile that it didn't go ? Could be lack of signal.

Yes, 'failed' twice. I checked the EE network status, which said no problems in the area. A third message, sent an hour later, got through; but I iwsh I knew why the first two didn't make it. Thank you for your suggestions, OG.

Maybe there server is overloaded. Due to which your message was not delivered.

Thank you everyone. That link was very interesting, Buenchico; a lot of it was above my head, but I found some of it helpful; have particularly been thinking back over the two messages I sent which failed (a third one was OK)trying to remember if there could possibly have been a 'sensitive word' in them...I doubt it, and they were to my daughter who is obviously a regular contact. However, all is back to normal now.
