Sky In 2 Rooms

Hi, is it possible to utilize a spare SKY+ HD box to watch and control my already installed Sky+ HD in another room without paying for multi-room and without running cables between the two? I know HDMI senders would do the job but they're expensive and liable to interference I'm told. Would Chrome Cast or Apple TV be of any use for this? Any help appreciated

Hi camioneur

I control my SKY box in my bedroom simply using a 'Magic Eye'. These plug into the RF output on your TV. They are very cheap. So you don't need your other box if I understand you correctly.

Thanks Sooty, does that mean you can watch and control the SKY in your bedroom with just the magic eye even though the SKY box is in another room?

Just had a look at your suggestion Sooty, but as far as I can see it only extends the remote, it doesn't transmit the picture so I'd still need cables or some type of sender whether that be scart or HDMI yes?

Hi camioneur - yes you will need a coax cable from rf 2 on your Sky HD box to the second TV (my bad) forgot as my bedroom is prewired with aerial socket so its a bit easier. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/332108278531?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368. This URL is from someone on eBay selling the magic eye and the io link you will need if you have a new type Sky box - plus of course the coax if that solution is feasible for you. I don't know the company on eBay but they are selling the two bits for £7.99 that you need (coax will be extra)- I don't know if same company supplies it but give then a look and see if it makes sense. I used to have a video sender for a Humax PVR I had - but wasn't impressed with them.
