Copying Text Messages On An Iphone

I sent a rather long, complicated text to the wrong number, so I now need to re-send it. You used to be able to copy the text, by tapping it once, and then paste the details somewhere else.....but that doesn't seem to work any more.

If I tap the screen, it just brings up a list of emoticons, so how can I copy and paste the text please ?

Hold your finger on it a second and 'copy' comes up.

Keep your finger on the message for a moment. That will give you the 'copy' option to paste into a new message.

don't tap, put your finger anywhere on the text and hold it there. That should bring up the highlighter bar and you can then highlight the text you want to copy
