Why No Landline?

Why are there more and more people(especially young people) with no landline? I don't understand how they function!

They have a mobile. As long as you live somewhere with a good mobile signal you don't need a landline for anything.

You don't need a landline. Free calls from mobile and pc suit me very well.

Until the likes of BT allow you to have broadband without a landlne, some of us are stuck with one. One advantage, a landline improves your credit rating.

More to the point would be 'How can you function without a mobile?'
My mobile costs me £7.50 a month for calls ,email and internet plus I can use it as a mobile hotspot for my PC. I can take it everywhere I go with nothing different from being at home. Can you do that with a landline?

Plus I can even watch free live TV from over 200 stations all over the world and listen to over 100 radio stations .

Sapel, I mean BT and the like make you pay for the line rental but you don't have to use it - you don't have to own a landline phone.

When I go out, I’m out. I don’t want all the facilities that I have at home. I don’t want to be in touch with people and I don’t want them to be in touch with me. I don’t want to surf the web, I don’t want to watch the TV, I don’t want to be troubled with inane e-mails. I have a PAYG mobile for emergencies and the occasional “There’s pigs on the line at Effingham Junction so I’ll be late. Get me a pint lined up (or put the kettle on, depending on which direction I’m travelling)”. It costs me a £20 top-up about every eighteen months or so.

I can understand some people having just a mobile. I have a landline because it suits me. I find the transmission much better and more reliable. But then I'm a funny old cuss.

I was with GiffGaff for a while but the 4G speed was shockingly slow. Problem solved by moving to EE
