I'm just getting used to an Android smartphone and I thought that things had disappeared off my screen too. However I found out that I'd inadvertently swiped the screen sideways, so that I was seeing the one next to it. So, before doing anything else, trying swiping the screen to the left (or right) to see if the screen you actually want is hiding to one side.
Otherwise, touch the apps button and find the Google app there. Then long press on it. That will add it to your home screen.
Thanks for your 2 replies.
Unfortunately the ' app info ' which is mentioned in the link you sent me will not open but I appreciate your time.
Back to the proverbial drawing board.
Go to Play Store and search for Google. It will either say "installed " so just add it to your homescreen, or it will give the option to install.
Or you can go to settings and search there.
I don't think there is any such thing as a Google app!
On my Android phone there is a Google FOLDER that contains many apps (Chrome, GMail, Google+, Maps, Play Music etc).
On the Home screen should be an "App" icon (bottom right on my phone), click on this and it shows you all the apps installed on your phone (make sure you swipe left and right to see all pages).
My woman is getting regular warnings that it's stopped :-(
Not even sure what it does. Some sort of search thing as far as I can make out.
Rather wish it could be uninstalled.
