It's probably gone to the great TV land in the sky but, before doing anything else, have you simply tried unplugging it (and NOT just turning it off), waiting a couple of minutes and then plugging it back in again? (That can sometimes reset whatever it was that was causing the problem).

Ruddy 'eck, Jordyboy! You posted only 4 minutes after I did. That's not exactly a long wait for an answer!

Don't presume to pass judgment on people,jordboy.....I had a family emergency after the post, so did not to try the answer...have done so just now & it didn't work.
Just a suggestion found on the web - but it might work:

Quote:
"#Press and hold the on/ off button...
#Whilst holding unplug the plug from the wall...
#Continue holding for 30 seconds...
#Plug in the plug whilst continuing to hold the on/ off button...
#Continue to hold for a further 30 seconds...

And the screen should come back on!"
Try this Wrayperson.

Press and hold the on/ off button.
Whilst holding, unplug the plug from the wall socket.
Continue holding and wait for 30 seconds.
Plug in the plug whilst continuing to hold the on/ off button. Continue to hold for a further 30 seconds and hopefully the screen should come back on.

If the plug is out of reach whilst you are holding in the on/off switch you need someone to do the plug out plug in operation.

snap.
From what I can garner from the AV forums Wrayperson it can happen if you have had a local thunderstorm or momentary power cut/surge. It is a standard reset for many modern AV devices, not least a Sky box.
If that does not work. Try unplugging the "source" cable to the tv. Either HDMI or AV lead. Static can be preventing the start up and disconnecting the leads will discharge it.

No luck, Togo.....think we just need a new set...thanks..
What model is it - might find the manual or solution then.
Try again Wray. Sometimes an overnight "rest" appears to clear it.
Plus, daft as it seems try using the remote, again after being patient.

Thanks to everyone ( except of course Jordyboy9) for help..nothing has worked so we will have to purchase a new tv set.

Something you definitely should get is a surge protector.

What the heck is a bush television?
I get images of bush telegraph, drums beating in the jungle.
Oh, I see. How do they compare with the likes of Sony or LG?
