O2 Pay As You Go Very Cheap
21 Answers
I asked a month or two back about cheap PAYG phones (no games, no internet, no nothing - just phone/text) and I've ended up with o2.
No contract. All they want is £10 top up, and that's it. Pay it again when/if you run out of credit.
Charges: 3p per minute for calls, 2p a text, and 1p MB data (which we don't use).
With our very limited use, that ten quid is going to last a long time.
Not sure how cheap o2 is if you DO want contracts, internet, etc., but for simple PAYG it's dirt cheap.

So, I 'phoned the Customer Service number and spoke to an agent. According to the agent I am nowon the Classic Pay and Go Tariff which charges calls in the UK to any landline or mobile number at 3p per minute. Texts cost 2p.
I'm with 1p mobile where its a 1p a text, 1p per minute calls and 1p per MB of data, it costs £10 and that lasts 4 months, you then have to put another £10 on for the next 4 months and so on, but you never lose any of your credit, it just rolls over so £30 per year, it suits me being a very low user, they use EE and have UK call centres, they also do a 'refer a friend' When your friend activates their SIM, we will give them a £5 bonus for joining via your referral link. This will be added as a top-up to their phone When your friend has spent £10 of credit on calls, texts or data, we will reward you with a £5 bonus for referring them. This will be added as a top-up to your phone. I've been with them for a long time and they have been excellent.
It sounds too good to be true. Like riptide my hubby pays 30p a minute going up to 35ppm soon and 15p a text. Why the difference in pay&go.. 3ppm to a landline is it the same for mobile to mobile. At the minute to call o2 to o2 is cheaper than o2 to another provider. Can't help feeling what is the catch.
There are some extremely cheap phone deals out there if you look for them.
Our landline calls are made through 18185.co.uk. About 2p a call for national, rising to £1-ish an HOUR for calls to Ireland/USA etc.
No devices involved, but you have to dial a number before you dial the number you want. (I have it pre-programmed into my phones so you just press '1' then the number you want).
No catch, no idea how it's done, but it is dirt cheap - just like o2!
