This happened to me a couple of times and got it fixed with the help of Ultimate Boot CD, which has a built-in utility to reset Windows login password via Linux Live CD. The question is that it no longer works on my latest Windows 10 laptop. so I am looking for alternatives

There are ways; a little-known utility called Google will help.
What the heck is the point of having a password if anyone can bypass it that way?
Write it down next time, & secure your BIOS as well.
I keep all my passwords in a notebook. A different password for every application.
You don't even need a password with the latest, quality laptops(Microsoft surface pro for 1) . W10 supports facial recognition.
Have you tried Kali?

I really, really hope that AZardoz doesn't think that his most valuable data can be secured through such means. I buy cheap laptops at auction and then see what I can do with them. I recently came across a Windows 7 netbook which had two layers of security on it, in that it was protected by both a BIOS password and a Windows one. I simply opened it up and disconnected the CMOS battery for a few moments (thus removing the BIOS password). That enabled me to access the BIOS so that I could get it to boot from USB. Then I booted with a password recovery tool, which took just a few seconds to find the Windows password for the machine. I was then able to access the 'page 3' pictures of the former owner's girlfriend that I found on the hard drive ;-)

Windows 10 is a bit harder to hack but it shouldn't be impossible.

The only way to really secure data is to encrypt it (preferably in a hidden folder or in the cloud):

(However that also requires remembering a password, which is totally unhackable, so it needs to be used with care!)
^^^ I certainly wouldn't assume that any cloud data is secure simply because it's in the cloud.

Indeed, I'd assume exactly the opposite. (I read a report recently where Apple had notified the police that a guy was storing child porn through his iCloud account. While I've no objection to child abusers being arrested, it does show that, despite assurances to the contrary, Apple employees can view what's stored in iCloud. Further, if Apple staff can see it, anyone who can hack Apple's servers can also see it).

My suggestion was that all sensitive data should always be encrypted (by the user himself, not by any third party such as Apple). Then, and only then, can it be stored either in the cloud or locally.
Or can make a new bootable disk to boot your computer .
