I have purchased a new acer computer,but can't find how to connect a mouse,which I would like to use instead of the touch pad.

Mice come with a USB connector - just plug it in to any USB socket on the laptop.

There should be a little piece a bit like a mini pendrive that you put in a USB slot-

Must come with a dongle to plug in.

If you mean wireless mouse. The dongle (small piece you plug into the USB on your new PC) is usually in the part where the batteries go.

The dongle might be stored in the battery compartment. Just pull it out and put it in a USB socket. Don't use a USB 3.0 socket - it will work bu it's a waste of a fast socket.
